Global Citizenship

Red Oaks is committed to the idea of global understanding. We respect, appreciate and celebrate others’ differences. Our curriculum presents content from the personal perspective (why does this matter to me?); the local perspective (how does this pertain to my community?); the national perspective (how does my country address this?) and the international perspective (how do other nations address this?). We own our values and culture, while learning and celebrating others’.

A fundamental element of international understanding is language. At Red Oaks, students learn a second language from early childhood with a goal of proficiency in communication (reading, speaking, listening and writing) by the end of 8th grade. Our Linguistics course delves into the roots of languages, how language shapes our brain and defines our cultures. Students use Latin to understand grammatical concepts and expand vocabulary.
