Red Oaks Alumni Earn Honors
On May 26th at the Newark Academy Middle School Recognition ceremony, alumnus Jake Mundo ('08)
received theWinfred Inglis Geometry Award for Excellence in the Study
of Geometry (normally awarded to a high school student, Jake is in 7th
grade), and the Joan M. Parlin Award, awarded to the Middle School
student in his/her first year at Newark Academy who has made an
outstanding contribution to the character of the Middle School (Jake
was one of three recipients).
At the same ceremony, fellow alum Aditya Srivatsan received
the Ad Lumen Award, awarded to the Middle School student at each grade
level whose love of learning encompasses intellectual curiosity, a
willingness to take academic risks, creativity and sincere motivation
in his/her studies.
Lucas Cuatecasas ('08),
a seventh grader at Gill St. Bernard's School, was recently inducted
into the John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. He took the ACT and
scored a 28 in Reading (the score to get into John Hopkins is 22).
Lastly, but not least, Bassam Gergi ('02), reports that after a year spent working for the Obama-Biden campaign organization first in New
Hampshire and then in Washington, D.C., he will be headed, this coming
fall, to Kings College, London University. Bassam graduated in 2008
from Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter, New Hampshire.
