Leadership . . . independence . . . citizenship . . . self-confidence . . . all are central to the purpose and focus of the Upper Elementary program. These are the formative years when students are preparing for the next chapter in their academic careers and life stories. Their journey as 21st century learners and leaders in many ways takes root right here in the Upper Elementary classrooms of The Red Oaks School.
Our devoted faculty construct and carry out a holistic, interdisciplinary curriculum that is both demanding and fun, one that engages students in increasing levels of complexity and abstraction, and that truly celebrates the joy of learning. Students leave The Red Oaks School as caring and confident achievers, well prepared for continued growth in the classroom, and beyond.
Some highlights of the Upper Elementary program include:
- Exceptional language arts program that prepares students in creative and expository writing and engages them in a rich body of literature and literary forms
- Strong, conceptually-based mathematics program that integrates use of manipulatives to build competencies from basic computation through algebra and other advanced topics
- Applied, project-based science and technology curriculum that explores areas such robotics and computer assisted design (CAD)
- Groundbreaking Montessori Middle School Model United Nations program that engages students in global challenges and diplomacy and culminates in a student-led nationwide conference at the United Nations in New York City.
