Head of School's Welcome
From across northern New Jersey, in households that speak more than 30 languages and originate from over 26 countries on 6 continents, there is truly no community like Red Oaks. Leading with kindness and curiosity, it’s no accident that our students experience a broader perspective.
As the year begins, I am honored and excited to lead Red Oaks as the new Head of School. With a vibrant and innovative curriculum, featuring a global perspective and a commitment to making the world a better place, I chose to join Red Oaks for the same reasons you will.
Red Oaks is a community unapologetically focused on what matters most—a caring connection with kids, a lasting relationship with learning, and a community with heart. This clear and powerful focus, free of distractions and gimmicks, shapes students who are grounded and kind, inquisitive and collaborative, confident and ready to thrive.
Our lower school, with students from age 3 to grade 4, is literally a home. Beyond the iconic porch and sheltering trees, the historic Cutler Mansion presents a world at once familiar and whimsical. Mixed-age classes mean that every student receives just what they need – an education that is more responsive and personalized than traditional single-aged classes can offer. And because our Montessori approach is supplemented with advanced math and writing programs, students have all the foundations they need to excel.
Our small-by-design, newly renovated Middle School for grades 5 through 8 sits a short distance up the road, featuring bright, modern spaces specifically geared for teens and pre-teens. In a community that is uniquely accepting and warm, no one is lost, and everyone finds space to grow into their passionate, unique, and ever-inquisitive selves. With our world-renowned International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, students gain a distinct advantage, preparing them academically, socially, and emotionally for success wherever life takes them. The results speak for themselves. Our middle school graduates gain admission to the most prestigious area high schools and boarding schools. And thanks to the IB Program, they also seamlessly transition to top international schools.
As you explore our website, I encourage you to learn more about our programs, achievements, and the one-of-kind opportunities we offer. But most importantly, I encourage you to visit. One step inside and you’ll know that we are different. At Red Oaks we care more – about the right things – and it shows.
With joy and gratitude,
Christopher Weaver
