Last Friday marked the 5th Annual American Young Voices concert at Newark’s Prudential Center, and for the 5th year in a row, Red Oaks was there in full voice! After months of rehearsing, 43 of our student vocalists were among the 8,000+ student choir that sang and performed enthusiastically to a sold-out audience of family and friends. Under the guidance of esteemed conductor and director of the AYV concerts, Francisco J. Núñez, students performed an assortment of songs including “We Are The World,” “Viva La Vida,” and medleys from the movies “The Greatest Showman” and “Moana”. Some highlights of the night included an audio message from “The Greatest Showman” star Hugh Jackman and a duet with Atlantic Records singer-songwriter Molly Kate Kestner.
Congratulations to our Red Oaks chorus on another spectacular performance! And sincere thanks to Red Oaks Music teacher, Mr. Tim Waters, for orchestrating (pun intended) our chorus through this awesome event each year. Mr. Tim sums up the experience perfectly, “It is such an amazing experience that cannot be replicated. The level of community engagement throughout the preparations leading up to the concert makes it so much more than a one-night event. It's a year-long experience that culminates in a performance that unifies, moves, and inspires everyone that is a part of AYV!”
