Primary classrooms were in for a treat on Friday, February 15, as the City Winds Trio stopped by for a morning of music! The esteemed classical music trio has been performing across the tri-state area since 2001, and is composed of Yuki Higashi (bassoon) and Red Oaks parents Meredyth Coleman (oboe) and Crispian Fordham (flute).

After performing a Mozart classic and showcasing their respective instruments, Meredyth Coleman and members lead Primary students in an interactive musical class. They learned and practiced basic concepts of music, such as beat, melody, and rhythm. Students also accompanied the Trio in several performances, such as serving as percussion and even the conductor! (See videos below.) To top off this musical adventure, every student had the opportunity to hold and examine a real violin and clarinet.

We offer our sincere thanks to the City Winds Trio for sharing their gift of music with our youngest students! Primary students could not stop talking about how much fun was had!
