Swiss Chalet regulars mingled with Red Oaks families and friends at the opening reception of the month-long Middle School Art Show at the Swiss Chalet Bakery on South Street, in Morristown, last Friday. People stopped to look at the multimedia display, including charcoal (handmade by students) drawings, still life works on paper and canvas, photographs, and stories, and to ask questions. Local historian Marge Brady and husband Wendell Brady joined the celebration. Marge works closely with the staff of the Passaic River Coalition at the neighboring Willow Hall property, which has been such a creative and cultural inspiration for Middle School students this year. A group of teachers and staff was enjoying the afternoon so much, they stopped for a light dinner, after the reception and continued on to the Friday night Bolts Basketball game at the Greater Morristown YMCA.
Thank you to the owners and staff at the Swiss Chalet for their hospitality, patience, and generosity in hosting two months of Red Oaks student art. Please stop by to see the show and tell them how much we appreciate them at Red Oaks. The works will be on display through the end of the month.
