Over the past several weeks in Design class, 7th and 8th graders have been tasked to create educational games for our Middle School teachers! By following the steps of the IB Design Cycle (see below), student groups developed games tackling a range of subjects. For instance, one group created a multiplayer board game about the Age of Exploration that was based off the classic Monopoly game. Another group created a Battleship-inspired game where you learn about the various parts of the circulatory and respiratory system. On Friday, March 9, the games went through their first trial run using some excellent test subjects—our 5th and 6th graders! 5th and 6th grade students took turns playing the various games, while the inventors observed and recorded their feedback. In the coming weeks, 7th and 8th graders will continue to evaluate and improve their games for a final evaluation. Stay tuned!
