Last Friday, the Cutler Campus Enrichment Room was transformed into a zoo, as Lower Elementary students and parents celebrated the culmination of the Zoo Crew science unit of study!

After learning about Earth's major biomes and its various creatures, 1st and 2nd graders collaborated in teams to plan, design, and create animals of their own! With the help of Makerspace teacher, Mr. Dan [Fenelon] and with inspiration from animal visits with Eye of the Wild's Mr. Travis, student groups created their own unique animals that were suited to a particular biome in areas of habitat, nutrition, self-protection, and reproduction.

This year's Zoo Crew creations included:

Rainforest: the Snird, the Amazonian Monkey Bird, and the Rain Forest Snake Glider
Desert: the Surskiter and the Lizect
Temperate Deciduous Forest: the Trill and the Butter Fox
Tundra: the Tigercat Foxelle, the Bob Charles, and the Speedy White Fox

Congratulations to our Lower Elementary students and their dedicated teachers on their captivating creations and presentations! Also -- a quick shout-out to Red Oaks parent Fran Farino for making delicious zebra-inspired cupcakes for both classrooms!
