It was another successful visit for The Red Oaks School at the Montessori Model United Nations! Our 7th and 8th graders arrived in NYC on Wednesday, March 14, eager to represent their countries: the Republic of Albania and Kingdom of Denmark. Students spent the next couple of days with their respective committees, deep in delegation over the many pressing issues affecting the world today. The annual conference culminated with a Final Voting Assembly on Saturday, March 17, held at United Nations Headquarters. Red Oaks is proud to announce that six of our students were elected to speak at the assembly by their committees! They included: Dax Bush, Thomas Blair, Nate Campbell, Devin Fosu, Kieran Fruebis, and Stacy Ikhelson. Congratulations to all of our student delegates on their impressive performances and shout out to Ms. Anna Macleod for her stellar job at preparing our students so well! Middle School Director Nely Miguel summed up the experience best, "We were 5% of the middle schoolers at the event, but 20% of the representatives. This says a lot about our students’ preparation, research, collaboration, and ability to reach consensus in groups."

Note: The MMUN conference involves a tremendous amount of preparation, logistical planning, and energy! Special thanks to Anna Macleod, Karen Kastl, Tim Waters, Gary Henningsen, and Nely Miguel, who were essential to the success of this trip! Also, a huge THANK YOU to our parent chaperones for their help and dedication!
