The bald eagle, that is, has landed in our Early Childhood classrooms as part of their study of North America. This past week, students in Ms. Mary Anne and Ms. Chantal’s classroom learned about the bald eagle’s characteristics and its natural habitat around parts of the continent. And, speaking of parts, students created paper bald eagles and used their hand-made creations to identify the parts of this magnificent and powerful flier. Putting two Montessori rugs end-to-end visually demonstrated the wingspan of an eagle. Meanwhile, students in Ms. Eva and Ms. Maggy’s classroom kicked off their study of North America learning about the topographical and cultural characteristics of this large continent. Both classes’ study of North America intentionally coincides with the celebration of Thanksgiving. That can only mean Stone Soup is just around the corner!
