Ms. Irene and Ms. Erminia's class performing a segment from Bach's Musette in D.

Adding to the chimes of orff instruments and recorders, the hum of a new musical instrument can be heard throughout the halls of the Cutler Campus. Strings! This year in Music class, Lower Elementary students have been introduced to the violin! Under the guidance of Music teacher Mr. Tim Waters, eager students are learning the proper posture, how to hold the violin and bow, and beginning to isolate strings (playing one string while not playing the other three). Recently, students have been learning to play D (2nd string) and A (3rd string), using these notes to play along as Mr. Tim accompanies on the "harpsichord" (keyboard) to perform Bach's Musette in D. Check out a clip from last week's assembly performance above!  According to Mr Tim, he plans to incorporate the violins into their regular classroom "instrumentarium." We can't wait to see what is in store for the rest of the school year!
