The Red Oaks Middle School Commons
- Students are back at Willow Hall painting and firing pottery. 5th and 6th graders are studying and making landscapes. 7th and 8th graders are hand-building with clay and collecting objects for their "Cabinet of Curiosities". In music, they are listening to opera and exploring jazz and making their own compositions.

- In 5th and 6th, students are completing their exceptional unit on slavery as an economic system that oppressed some for profit for others. Students are reading and writing historical fiction.

-To Kill a Mockingbird and the Great Depression overlap in an interdisciplinary unit full of primary resources and outstanding literary discussions among 7th and 8th graders.

-In science, 7th and 8th graders are launching into space. It is amazing how much they already know about black holes, celestial bodies, gravity, etc. 5th and 6th graders are exploring forces and motion.

-In Linguistics, 7th and 8th graders are examining their mother (or ancestral) languages in terms of syntax, morphology, and phonology.
